Kaulig Racing has parted ways with Daniel Dye from their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team, the organization announced Tuesday. Dye was under suspension after a series of homophobic insults against IndyCar Series driver David Malukas last week. On Tuesday, the team announced that Dye had resigned from his seat.
“Kaulig Racing has accepted Daniel Dye’s resignation, and we wish him great success in the pursuit of his personal and professional goals,” the team said in a statement Tuesday.
Dye’s departure ends his three-year stint with the organization. He debuted for Kaulig in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2024, before going full-time in 2025. This year Dye moved to the Truck Series as Kaulig launched a partnership with Ram.
Background
On Tuesday, March 17, Daniel Dye mocked David Malukas on a live stream with a high-pitched voice commonly used to disparage gay people. He called the impression his ‘David Malukas gay voice’. Another speaker off-camera quipped that Malukas ‘played for the other team’.
Both NASCAR and Kaulig Racing suspended Dye following his comments. NASCAR has reinstated Dye, but Kaulig opted not to have him return to the No. 10 Ram truck. NASCAR confirmed that Dye has completed required sensitivity training.
Daniel Dye’s career with Kaulig Racing’s Truck Series team lasted just three races. He recorded a best finish of 15th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Corey LaJoie Goes Full-Time

Corey LaJoie will take over the No. 10 Kaulig Racing Ram for the remainder of the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, Kaulig Racing confirmed. LaJoie previously competed in one Truck Series race for Kaulig at Darlington Raceway, in the team’s free agent No. 25 truck.
“The last couple months I’ve missed the grind of working towards a goal of success on track,” LaJoie said. “There’s certainly a lot of work ahead of us getting our Ram trucks to a place where we compete for wins but with the people in the Kaulig Racing building, I believe we will get there.”
LaJoie was initially slated to return to Kaulig’s free agent truck at Rockingham Speedway. The team has confirmed that Ty Dillon, one of its two full-time NASCAR Cup Series drivers, will compete in that race instead.
“I really appreciate the confidence Kaulig Racing and Ram have in me,” LaJoie continued. “I have been a part of building a couple teams from the ground up and getting success and I will bring that experience to help Kaulig get to their potential on a quicker path. I love what Kaulig and Ram are doing to promote the Truck series and the sport. It will be a fun challenge to be a part of.”
“We selected Corey because of his extensive experience in just about every series in NASCAR and how well he worked with our organization at Darlington when he drove the No. 25,” added Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice. “He brings the skill, maturity and work ethic we need to get our Ram program where it needs to be. We think he’ll help us speed that development and battle for checkered flags. We’re confident he’s the right driver to help us.”
Daniel Dye’s Response
“I’m incredibly thankful for my time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and for the chance to compete with Kaulig Racing alongside some of the most passionate fans in motorsports,” Dye said in a prepared statement. “At this time, I am stepping away from that role. NASCAR has played a meaningful role in my development, and I don’t take that opportunity lightly.
“After a lot of honest self‑reflection and guidance from mentors I trust, I’ve decided the smartest move for my career is to realign my focus on my long‑term objective of becoming a successful driver at the highest level of stock car racing. Now that I’m reinstated, I’m optimistic about what the future holds and look forward to working hard at my next opportunity.
“This sport and its fans mean everything to me, and I can’t wait to get back to it focused on the real goal more than ever.”
