Justin Allgaier is returning to JR Motorsports on a multi-year deal, according to a SiriusXM interview with team co-owner Kelley Earnhardt Miller on Thursday. The 40-year-old has been with JR Motorsports in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series since 2016.

“We don’t look at him as the 40-year-old veteran because he is having so much fun with it,” Earnhardt Miller said. “Justin has just been on fire and I’m so glad that we talked him into coming back for a couple more years.”

Over the past 11 seasons that Allgaier has driven the No. 7 Chevrolet, Justin Allgaier’s accomplishments are numerous. He has 31 wins with JR Motorsports and he won the 2024 O’Reilly Auto Parts series championship. This season Allgaier has six wins and has clinched the regular season championship in his bid for a second series title.

The confirmation of Allgaier’s return came amid speculation he may be getting closer to retirement. “Three years ago that was it, I told them I wanted to retire three years ago,” Allgaier said at Martinsville Speedway in March. “I’m glad I didn’t.”

Allgaier’s Legacy with JR Motorsports

In addition to winning 31 races for JR Motorsports – over twice as many as any of the team’s other drivers – Allgaier also helped the organization take a massive step forward. In 2025 JR Motorsports fielded the No. 40 Traveller Whiskey Chevrolet in the Daytona 500, their first ever NASCAR Cup Series entry. Allgaier drove that historic entry, finishing ninth. The team brought back that entry this year, finishing 38th.

“I think more about what would’ve happened if Justin had gotten a bit better of an opportunity on the Cup side way back in the day,” said JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Nashville Superspeedway in May. “Because I think he’s Cup caliber and just never really got that chance to have a good, solid, see-it-through kind of career. So we’re very lucky to have kind of caught him and found him and given him a home. We’re taking advantage of that.”
