Louis Foster, driver of the No. 45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Honda in IndyCar, will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut driving the No. 76 Chevrolet Silverado for Freedom Racing Enterprises at Lime Rock Park.

This will be Foster’s first start in any level of NASCAR. The 22-year old is the 2024 Indy NXT champion and has earned one pole and a pair of of 7th-place finishes in 24 IndyCar starts. Both the pole and the best finishes came on road or street courses. Currently Foster is ranked 18th in the IndyCar standings, ahead of Christian Rasmussen and former Formula One drivers Romain Grosjean and Mick Schumacher.

“This is quite the exciting opportunity and a bit of a bucket list item for me personally,” Foster said about the opportunity. “I like to run different circuits in iRacing and NASCAR vehicles are at the top of my list of fun things to drive. So when Spencer and DROPLiGHT reached out with this opportunity, it was a pretty easy ‘yes’ for me.”

Freedom Racing Enterprises have been a full-time Truck Series team since 2024. Owner Spencer Boyd was full-time the first two seasons and is the anchor driver this year, but has stepped aside for the road courses. Nathan Nicholson drove the opening three road races with a best finish of 20th-place at Watkins Glen International. 20th-place is tied for the team’s best finish in 2026, while a 5th-place debut at Daytona International Speedway is their career best.

“We’ve shown some great speed with our road course program this season,” said Boyd. “It was our goal this season to stay focused on the 76 this year while bringing road course talent to best showcase our abilities in building fast trucks.  The schedules aligned so that we could execute this crossover with Louis at Lime Rock and we are proud to be the ones getting him his first drive in a NASCAR race truck.”

While this is Foster’s debut, he is not the first IndyCar driver to make NASCAR starts in recent seasons. Conor Daly has made starts in all three series since 2023, with four Truck races for Niece Motorsports between 2023 and 2024. Daly will return to the series at the Indianapolis Raceway Park, driving the No. 25 Kaulig Racing Ram 1500 “Free Agent Truck”. Katherine Legge has run partial schedules in the NASCAR Cup and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series these past two seasons, including an attempt at The Double. Santino Ferrucci drove partial O’Reilly schedules for Sam Hunt Racing in 2021 and 2022, and former drivers James Hinchliffe and Dario Franchitti made starts in the Truck Series race at St. Petersburg.
