Layne Riggs won the OnlyBulls Green Flag 150 in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday, making him the first ever NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series street course winner. He secured the second win of this season for Front Row Motorsports, and the sixth of his own Truck Series career.
“I really, really wanted to get my first win on a road course,” Riggs told FOX Sports in victory lane. “The short track guy from Bahama, North Carolina won in St. Pete, can you believe it?”
Winning in St. Petersburg
Riggs opened up a sizeable lead late in the race, before the ThorSport Racing trucks of Ben Rhodes and Ty Majeski began to close the gap. Contact between Riggs’ No. 34 Ford and the lapped truck of Stewart Friesen with four laps to go allowed Rhodes to get beside Riggs momentarily, though he wasn’t able to complete the pass.
As the trio reached the white flag, Riggs opened back up to a firm lead while Rhodes and Majeski battled fiercely for second. This allowed Riggs to make one final push as Majeski got by Rhodes and surged for the win. Concerns over Riggs’ fuel capacity began proved unfounded, and though Majeski drove hard into the final corner he was unable to get to Riggs’ rear bumper. Riggs won Stage 2 prior to his St. Petersburg win, while Rhodes was victorious in Stage 1.
Having rolled off the grid 28th, Riggs set a new record for the lowest starting position by a road course winner in Craftsman Truck Series history. In his six career Truck wins, Riggs had never won a road course race until Saturday.
A Multidisciplinary Field

One of the biggest stories of Friday’s race was Dario Franchitti’s return to NASCAR after 18 years away. Running for Tricon Garage in the No. 1 Toyota with support from Legacy Motor Club owner Jimmie Johnson, Franchitti ran in the top ten for much of the race before dropping back due to steering issues. He finished 27th, one lap down.

Another IndyCar Series icon, six-time winner James Hinchcliffe, placed tenth in his first ever NASCAR race for Spire Motorsports. He showed a quick learning curve adapting to a very different style of racing on a track he’s raced at in open-wheel. Also performing strong was IMSA driver Colin Braun, finishing ninth for Kaulig Racing’s No. 25 Ram truck.
“If I could start the race knowing what I knew by Stage 3, it’d be different,” Hinchcliffe told FOX Sports after the race. “I learned so much down here about managing tires and traffic and racing these guys out there.”
By winning Saturday, Layne Riggs jumped from 22nd to fifth in the 2026 Craftsman Truck Series standings. His Front Row Motorsports teammate Chandler Smith is the points leader after three races. Ben Rhodes is second, Ty Majeski is third, and Gio Ruggiero is fourth.
