Corey Heim won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, out-dueling Carson Hocevar and Kaden Honeycutt in the event’s final laps. Heim scored his third win of the 2026 season and the 26th of his career. With this victory today in the No. 1 Toyota Tundra, Heim has three wins in five starts this year for Tricon Garage.

“[Honeycutt] tried to get to my right-rear there which would’ve probably won the race,” Heim recalled. “I had to protect it. Props to Kaden and props to Christopher [Bell], I don’t know where he ended up but he was helping me really good all day.”

Battle For The Win

Up until the last ten laps, Carson Hocevar was Heim’s biggest threat in the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet. As debris in Hocevar’s grill apparently triggered heating issues, Heim’s Tricon Garage teammate Kaden Honeycutt surged to second place. Despite his best efforts in a thrilling last two laps, Honeycutt was barely unable to track down Heim in his No. 11 Toyota Tundra.

“Had a really good restart to get us up there and in contention after all the strategy and stuff kicked in,” Honeycutt said. “We got stuff to clean up on our end for sure.”

Hocevar wound up third, with the Front Row Motorsports duo of Layne Riggs and Chandler Smith placing fourth and fifth. Christopher Bell won both of the first two stages on Saturday but wound up sixth. His No. 62 Halmar-Friesen Racing Toyota Tundra showed some of the best speed the team has had all season, with Bell being arguably the fastest truck throughout the race.

Kaden Honeycutt was the highest-running Truck Series regular in both of the first two stages, picking up crucial ground on points leader Layne Riggs. On Lap 50 Riggs lost track position after he sustained a flat left-front tire, forcing him to pit under green flag.

Points Outlook

Layne Riggs maintained his points lead Saturday, though Kaden Honeycutt narrowed the margin from 37 points to 26. Chandler Smith moved back into third, currently 90 points out of the lead. Gio Ruggiero ascended to fourth, giving Tricon Garage and Front Row Motorsports control over the top four positions.

Dropping from third to fifth in points after Michigan was Christian Eckes, who finished a disappointing 32nd for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing. ThorSport Racing’s Jake Garcia currently controls the tenth and final spot in the Truck Series Chase with a four-point cushion.

Despite running only five of the season’s 12 races, Corey Heim is 11th in the standings and one spot out of Chase contention. With no immediate plans to try for a second straight championship, the first full-time driver out of the Chase is 12th-place Stewart Friesen at nine points out.
