RFK Racing is exercising their team option with Ryan Preece according to co-owner Brad Keselowski on Saturday. Preece has driven the No. 60 Ford Mustang Dark Horse full-time for RFK Racing since 2025.
“We had a multi-year contract with Ryan and we picked up his option here a few months ago,” owner-driver Brad Keselowski said during media availability at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “We’re gonna continue to keep him as a part of the family for awhile.”
Since joining RFK Racing in 2025, Ryan Preece has logged three top-five finishes and 18 top-10 finishes in 57 starts. Though he’s still searching for his first career NASCAR Cup Series victory, Preece won this year’s Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, an exhibition race.
The status of RFK Racing’s No. 60 team has been uncertain since it was revealed they were losing their third charter after the 2026 season. The charter’s owner Rick Ware Racing has leased it to RFK Racing, but are now selling it to Legacy Motor Club. Still, team executives have remained steadfast that they won’t drop the No. 60 car.
“We will run three cars [in 2027],” said RFK Racing President Chip Bowers in May. “That’s unequivocally our focus moving forward.” Preece has remained tight-lipped on specifics as his team searches for a replacement charter.
“I know they’re working to get a charter,” Preece said in July. He declined to speculate on the possibility of running full-time without a charter in 2027.
