Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc scored his ninth career win in the British Grand Prix, snapping a winless streak dating back to October 20, 2024 in the United States Grand Prix. It marks Ferrari’s second win of the season with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton wrapping up the podium spot in third after an earlier penalty.
The race at Silverstone would begin with a monumental start from both Ferrari entries, but an early incident with Williams’ Alex Albon and Haas’ Ollie Bearman making contact and sending Bearman around would also come into play. Albon’s damage was severe enough to become the first DNF of the day.
The second would come at Lap 39, where Nico Hulkenberg’s ride in the Audi F1 Team would come to a halt in the Copse Corner and bringing out a virtual safety car.
The race would conclude under a safety car as Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen would slide off the course and get stuck in the gravel on Lap 48.
Points leader for Mercedes AMG Kimi Antonelli would have an uncharacteristically filled day, coming home with a 16th place finish after suffering front wing damage with 10 laps remaining that would force the 19-year old to pit late and surrender what would’ve been a top-10 finish, Antonelli would also be held with a five second penalty for exceeding track limits too many times on the same lap as the Verstappen incident.
McLaren was another team of mixed results, while defending world champion Lando Norris would finish just outside the podium in fourth, Oscar Piastri would remain quiet throughout the event with finishing 11th.
