When the green flag waves for the NASCAR Cup Series’s return to Chicagoland Speedway, one driver will cross a major milestone. Ty Dillon, driver of the No. 10 Chevrolet Camaro for Kaulig Racing, will make his 300th career Cup Series start.
Dillon has been a Kaulig Racing driver since 2024. That season saw a partial schedule in their No. 16, before moving to the No. 10 full-time in 2025 where he remains to this day.
“Making 300 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series is so special to me,” Dillon said to Jayski’s Silly Season Site.
“As a kid, you dream of racing in the Cup Series, starting the Daytona 500 and competing for championships,” he continued. “As your career goes on, you realize how important and special it is to keep making starts at this level. I’m proud to reach this mark, and I’m grateful I’ve been able to stick around long enough to gain so many experiences racing at the highest level all over the country. I’m pumped for this weekend and hopeful there are another 300 starts ahead.”
Ty Dillon’s Career So Far
In 299 starts, the 34-year old has earned two top-5s and eight top-10s with a best career finish of 3rd in the 2020 playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway. Both top-5s and six of the top-10s came with Germain Racing, the team Dillon spent four of his seven full seasons with between 2017 and 2020.
Dillon has also run full seasons for Spire Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club, along with partial schedules for Richard Childress Racing, Stewart Haas Racing, and other smaller teams.
One of the highlights of Dillon’s Cup career was his run in the inaugural In-Season Challenge during TNT’s portion of the NASCAR broadcast. A big wreck at EchoPark Speedway allowed him to upset Denny Hamlin in the first round, then three consecutive top-20 finishes helped him advance to the final round. While ultimately losing the victory and million dollar prize to Ty Gibbs at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, even making the final round remains a career highlight for Dillon.
Dillon will roll off 27th-place in his 300th Cup start, and looks to improve upon a best 2026 intermediate finish of 22nd.
“Having Ty with us over the last year and a half and seeing him reach this milestone is something special,” Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice said. “Most drivers never get the opportunity to make 10 starts at the Cup level, let alone 300. Reaching this mark is a well-deserved achievement, and congratulations to Ty.”
