Kimi Antonelli and the Mercedes AMG Formula One Team extend their winning streak to five races in the 72nd running of the Monaco Grand Prix. It is the fifth career win for Antonelli, and sixth overall for the Mercedes team this year. The Italian driver becomes the youngest F1 winner on the Monaco Circuit.
Despite early success in the midst of a long season, the 19-year old still remains hungry for more.
“It’s been an incredible weekend, an incredible race,” Antonelli said. “The job isn’t finished, it’s still a long season, we have to keep pushing and raising the bar.”
The victory would come after a late-race red flag incident on Lap 66 involving the Scuderia Ferrari machine of Charles Leclerc in Turn 19 due to a brake failure. To the hometown driver, this was a brutal end to what would’ve been a podium finish for the 2024 race winner.

“I’m extremely disappointed, sad, angry, a mixture of negative emotions,” Leclerc said. “I don’t know how much I can go detail, it’s just not acceptable.”
Other notable results from come from Leclerc’s teammate Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time World Champion secured his second-straight podium finish on the year, climbing to second in the points standings. Meanwhile Isack Hadjar of Red Bull Racing would score his first career podium in his second full-time season. Finally, what had appeared to be a day in which Cadillac would score its first points of the season, courtesy of Sergio Pérez’s 10th-place finish, was undone. Following the Monaco Grand Prix, the FIA stewards ruled he was out of position on a restart following the red flag, resulting in a 10-second penalty. The post-race time addition dropped the No. 11 car to 15th.

The race also saw numerous contenders retire early, including defending World Champion Lando Norris of McLaren. The driver would exit the race after 43 laps due to a battery/power unit issue. Max Verstappen of Red Bull also suffered the same fate, with his retirement coming on the opening lap of the race. Others consist of Carlos Sainz, Lance Stroll , Ollie Bearman, and Valtteri Bottas of Cadillac.
