Two NASCAR Cup Series teams announced they’d be paying tribute to the late Greg Biffle starting with next month’s Daytona 500. Announced on Thursday, all four RFK Racing entries, as well as the No. 16 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing, will be running special number fonts that call back to Biffle’s full-time racing career.
Biffle called home during all 14 of his full-time seasons in the NASCAR Cup Series. For Kaulig Racing’s No. 16 car, a tribute is fitting because it’s the number Biffle drove for the vast majority of his Cup Series starts.
These alterations on the teams’ traditional number fonts are the latest in a series of acknowledgments to Biffle since the racing icon lost his life in a tragic plane crash in North Carolina. Biffle, his wife and two kids, and three others all passed away after their jet crashed shortly after taking off from Statesville Regional Airport on December 18.
Year-Long Remembrance

In addition to their number fonts, RFK Racing will also be sporting circular tribute decals to Biffle on their cars’ B-posts throughout the 2026 season. Those stickers will read, “The Biff 16, In Loving Memory of Greg Biffle”, according to a team announcement. Furthermore, Kaulig Racing is including Biffle’s signature as part of the No. 16 car’s design at Daytona International Speedway in February.
“Greg Biffle was more than a championship driver, he was family,” said RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski. “He helped shape who we are as an organization, and his legacy is woven into this team’s history. Returning to the iconic numeric font that defined so much of his career, and adding the season long decal to each car, are meaningful ways for us to honor Greg and carry his spirit. We can’t bring him back, but we can honor him on the track the best way we know how, all season long.”
Daytona 500 Tributes
RFK Racing is fielding four entries into the Daytona 500 on February 15. Their three full-time cars of Brad Keselowski, Chris Buescher, and Ryan Preece are locked into the race, while Corey LaJoie is attempting to race his way in alongside them. Kaulig Racing’s No. 16 Chevrolet, driven by AJ Allmendinger, is also locked into the Daytona 500.

“Greg Biffle made the No. 16 famous and was a true friend to Kaulig Racing and the whole racing community,” added Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice. “This is our way of honoring his incredible career and the person he was. When AJ Allmendinger drives this car at Daytona, we hope fans remember Greg, his family, and all the great memories he gave us.”
In addition to these teams’ individual homages, NASCAR itself is planning on commemorating Greg Biffle’s contributions to the sport in the season-opening Cook Out Clash on February 1. A painted version of the memorial sticker will appear on the infield grass at Bowman Gray Stadium.
“Greg Biffle was one of the most special drivers I’ve ever had the privilege of working with,” added RFK Racing founder Jack Roush. “He gave everything he had to this organization, and together we shared some of the proudest moments in our history. Honoring Greg this season is deeply personal for all of us, and it’s important that we remember the role he played in building this team and the standard he helped set.”
