Practice and qualifying for Friday’s ARCA Menards Series Zinsser SmartCoat 150 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course have been completed. Connor Mosack, driving the No. 28 Pinnacle Racing Group Chevrolet, has scored the pole position for the event with a fast lap of 87.815 sec. around the 2.258-mile road course in Lexington, Ohio.
This marks the first pole of the 2024 season for the 25-year-old, and the second pole of their ARCA Menards Series career. Mosack’s first-career ARCA Menards Series pole came in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway a season ago.
Mosack is one of a few drivers pulling double duty in the Trans Am series this weekend. With extra seat time before today’s race, the driver of the No. 28 feels confident.
“Track was pretty good. I think it’s a little bit looser than we all anticipated. But, you know, we kind of figured that out in the Trans Am practices I had earlier. So that gave us a little bit of advantage,” Mosack shared. “There’s a few other guys that are kind of doing double duty also that are can be hard to beat tonight. But I think the car is really good. Got a lot of good speed and I’m looking forward to tonight.”
William Sawalich, who won at Portland International Raceway in the ARCA Menards Series West earlier this month, will line up alongside Mosack on the front row after turning the second fastest lap in qualifying. The No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was 0.495 sec. off the fast time set by Mosack.
Brent Crews and Dale Quarterley will make up row two on the starting grid for Friday’s ARCA Menards Series event, while Thomas Annunziata, Marco Andretti, Gio Ruggiero, Andres Perez de Lara, Conor Daly, and Kris Wright will round out the top-10 starters for the Zinsser SmartCoat 150 at Mid-Ohio.
During the combined practice and qualifying session, Christian Rose went off track, bringing out a caution. He was able to get his No. 32 AM Racing Ford re-fired and got back on track. The same goes for the No. 44 of Thomas Annunziata who stopped on track during the session, but was able to re-fire his engine as well.
