Andretti Global has announced Marcus Ericsson will return to their NTT IndyCar Series team for the 2027 season piloting the No. 28 Honda. The 35-year-old Swedish driver will return for a fourth straight year alongside teammates Will Power and Kyle Kirkwood.
“I’m really excited about the contract extension,” Ericsson said. “We’ve been really turning things up around after last year, and we’ve put in a lot of work, and that’s really been paying off.”
So far this season, the 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner sits ninth in the championship standings after rebounding from a career low 20th a year ago. His highlights include winning his first ever NTT P1 Award in the streets of Arlington back in March and finished a season-best second at World Wide Technology Raceway in June.
“The results haven’t been always gone our way this year, but I feel like we’ve been competitive and in the mix at every type of track,” Ericsson added. “That makes me excited for next year and to be able to build on the momentum we’ve created this year.”
Andretti Global president Jill Gregory’s goal is to maximize performance across the board for the group, believing the veteran is one piece of that puzzle.
“One of our priorities has been building consistency across our IndyCar program, and bringing Marcus back is an important part of that,” Gregory said. “He’s shown exactly what he’s capable of this season.”
