The 2025 Spanish Grand Prix had a little bit of everything—dominance, drama, and a whole lot of “did that really just happen?” Let’s start at the front. Oscar Piastri was untouchable all weekend. He grabbed pole, nailed the start, and even kept his cool after a late safety car tried to shake things up. His teammate Lando Norris followed him home in second, giving McLaren their first 1-2 in Spain since the early 2000s. Not bad for a team that was once considered midfield. Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium for Ferrari, driving a clean, smart race to stay in the mix. But the real fireworks? That came from Max Verstappen. After Red Bull gambled on hard tires for the final stint, Max couldn’t keep up with the pace. Then came Turn 5. George Russell tried to make a move, and Max… well, Max did Max things. The contact looked deliberate to many, and the stewards didn’t hold back—10-second penalty, two penalty points, and a drop from P5 to P10. He’s now one step away from a race ban. Yep, it’s getting spicy. Further back, Nico Hülkenberg shocked everyone with a P5 finish—his best result in years 2019 to be exact in the Italian GP—and Fernando Alonso finally gave the Spanish crowd something to cheer for with points in ninth. Piastri now leads the championship by 10 points over Norris, and McLaren sits on top of the Constructors’ standings. Next stop: Canada. And if this weekend was any indication, things are just heating up.
