Another Messy Indianapolis Road Course Race and A Driver Cheating At The End? (Summer, 2022)

The second year of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course experiment had fans shaking their heads once again.

The on-track action was highlighted by Tyler Reddick, who went from the pole position to victory lane after leading 38 laps of the Verizon 200. That makes two road course wins for the Richard Childress Racing driver so far this season, making him a considerable favorite at future road course races.

In the midst of victory for the No. 8 team, there was plenty of messy racing and a controversial moment for a driver making headlines this season, Ross Chastain.

When trying to avoid the carnage heading into Turn 1 in the closing laps of the race, the ‘Watermelon Man’ cut the course and was given a 30-second penalty. While there was some confusion ahead of the penalty verdict, many wondered if this was something pre-planned but the No. 1 team or if it truly was a reaction to avoid the chaos.

In this episode of Above The Yellow Line, Taylor Kitchen breaks down all of this and more, plus previews the upcoming race at Michigan International Speedway, the FireKeepers Casino 400.
