On October 23, 2026, Rackley W.A.R announced that they would be closing their operations after the race at Talladega Superspeedway later that day. Dawson Sutton capped off a nearly six-year journey with a 19th-place finish. From the lows of struggling to finish top-20 to the postseason to a return to the back of the field, Rackly W.A.R have had a fascinating journey in the Craftsman Truck Series

“We are incredibly grateful for our determined and hardworking drivers, employees, and partners who have made this team their home,” co-owners Curtis Sutton and Willie Allen said in a joint statement. “We have had so many great memories on and off the race track.”

First Season

On December 18, 2020, former Truck Series driver Willie Allen and Rackley Roofing CEO Curtis Sutton announced the formation of a new team. About a month later, the team announced series veteran Timothy Peters as the full-time driver of the No. 25 Chevrolet Silverado. Peters was a veteran with eleven victories and strong speed in part-time starts, but hadn’t been full-time since 2016. In the first 10 races of 2021, Peters only finished top-20 twice. Due to this, the driver and team parted ways after the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The next eight races saw Josh Berry take over the reigns of the No. 25. The same team that only finished top-20 twice saw seven in eight races, including a top-10 in their first race together at Texas Motor Speedway. 2018 champion Brett Moffitt made one start, co-owner Allen made two, and Berry made one more at Martinsville Speedway to end the season 19th in owner points.

Notably, the race at Nashville Superspeedway saw the team’s first attempt to be a multi-truck team. 2016 series champion William Byron joined the team in the No. 27, but failed to finish and earned a 36th-place.

Career Highs: Matt DiBenedetto

After a messy breakup with Wood Brothers Racing, fellow NASCAR veteran Matt DiBenedetto moved to the Truck Series for 2022. DiBenedetto earned six top-10s in the regular season, but failed to make the playoffs. By the end of the season, the team earned one more top-10 and a 15th-place points finish. That one top-10, however, was a victory at Talladega.

“We have had so many great memories on and off the racetrack, with the 2022 Talladega victory standing as one of our proudest accomplishments,” Sutton and Allen said.

2022 saw an expanded schedule for the second truck. The 2021 Talladega winner Tate Fogleman piloted the No. 26 for three races, failing to make two and finishing 20th in the third. While the second truck did not have strong runs, the No. 25 allowed for DiBenedetto to return in 2023. While they did not secure another victory, DiBenedetto’s one top-five and nine top-10s secured a first (and only) playoff spot for both the driver and team.

The team was eliminated in the opening round, and parted with DiBenedetto merely one race later. Chandler Smith, Trevor Bayne, and Stefan Parsons each joined the team for one race to round out the 2023 season.

The Dawson Sutton Era

In 2024, Rackley W.A.R once again took a driver dropping down from the Cup Series. This time, it was Ty Dillon. While the circumstances match, Dillon was unable to match DiBenedetto’s success. In eighteen races, Dillon only had two top-10s and no finish above ninth. Due to this, Dawson Sutton would take over the No. 25 for the final five races of the season after making two starts in the part-time No. 26. Sutton finished top-five at Kansas Speedway and earned three top-20s in the final three races.

2025 saw an all new Rackley W.A.R. Sutton would be the full-time driver and he would pilot the No. 26. The rookie had a quiet but respectable season, with one top-five, two top-10s, and a 22nd-place owners points finish.

Toni Breidinger and Kasey Kleyn would join the team for 2026, both piloting the No. 27 part-time. Breidinger DNQ’d in two of her five attempts but earned a strong 18th-place finish at Texas, while Kleyn missed one race and failed to finish the other at North Wilkesboro Speedway. In the opening 22 races, Sutton would make 21 starts, missing the race at Kansas for a different event. However, he would only finish top-10 once at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The 20-year-old Sutton will drive for Tricon Garage in 2027, while the Rackley W.A.R team will continue as a late model development team.

“Since bringing W.A.R and Rackley Roofing together at the beginning of 2021, we have earned nearly 50 late model wins across the country, and we have no plans to slow down racing anytime soon,” Sutton and Allen said.
