The uncertainty surrounding Max Verstappen’s future in Formula One has come to a close as the four-time world champion has signed a contract extension with Red Bull Racing through the 2030 season.
Early in the year, Verstappen’s love and passion for the sport did not appear as it once was. Notably, the Dutchman was vocal about his criticisms of the 2026 car and how it “felt really bad” during the weekend of the Australian Grand Prix.
“I’m not enjoying it at all. It doesn’t matter to me where I qualify,” Verstappen said in Melbourne. “Whether it would’ve been at the front or where I am now, emotionally and in terms of feeling, it’s completely empty.”
The announcement of his contract extension, which comes during the week leading into the Dutch Grand Prix, ends the rumors of the 28-year-old casting doubt of his future in the series. Now, with his path ahead set, the focus shifts towards winning.

“I have always said it: The team is like a second family for me and I feel very at home,” Verstappen said in the presser. “To continue this journey with the same team that I have been with my whole career is really special and something I have always wanted to do.”
Since joining the team back in 2016, Verstappen has scored 71 Grand Prix victories and four titles in 2021 through 2024 across 12 seasons. Team Principal, Laurent Mekies, also shared the same enthusiasm in the new deal.
“Very few partnerships in sport achieve what Max and this team have. Since the very beginning, Max has embodied everything that makes Oracle Red Bull Racing special,” Mekies said. “The decision to continue our journey together is rooted in the trust Max and the team have built over the years, as well as Max’s confidence in our people, our culture and our vision for the future.”
