Motorsports is known for being built on families. Some of the greatest drivers in history have relatives in the sport, and these lineages can span generations. From the Petty’s and Earnhardt’s dominating the world of NASCAR for decades, The Unser’s and Andretti’s around American open wheel racing, and Keke and Nico Rosberg winning Formula One World Championships, all different racing series have famous families. The Anderson family looks set to join the ranks soon.
The Anderson family, father Greg and son Cody, shared a special moment at Indianapolis. The duo shared victory lane in the #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Pro Stock Series battle, with Cody capturing the victory and Greg capturing the championship.
About the Andersons
Cody Anderson is a 28-year-old making his first Pro Stock starts. He made his series debut in 2026 at Gainsville, followed by his #2Fast2Tasty debut at the U.S. Nationals later in the season. In his first race, he launched at an identical time to fellow young driver Chris Vang, but advanced by six-thousandths of a second. From there, Anderson advanced to face Greg Stanfield. He defeated Stanfield, one of his father’s greatest rivals, by 1.33 miles per hour.
“(Stanfield’s) very hard to beat, and to be able to do that is a real honor,” Anderson told Drag Illustrated. “To be able to leave on Greg Stanfield is a big deal, and to get two win lights is a huge confidence boost. Hopefully, I can keep the momentum going.”
Cody Anderson is a young driver looking to prove himself, but Greg Anderson is the most proven driver in Pro Stock history. The 65-year-old is a 116-time winner and six-time series champion. While his son was vying for his first #2Fast2Tasty victory, Anderson was vying for the championship. He entered tied with his teammate, and clinched the title when the tree dropped. Despite securing his own in season championship, Anderson was quick to talk to the media about his son’s accomplishments.
“(Cody’s) progressed at every race we’ve gone to this year,” Anderson said. “People are probably getting tired of me telling them that he’s the real deal and that he’s going to be there by the end of the year, but it sure looks like he’s holding up his end of the bargain. There are a lot of tough racers in this class, and I’ll put him right up against any one of them.”
The Andersons enter the NHRA Mission Foods Countdown to the Championship with Greg in 2nd, and Cody in 9th.
