Justin Allgaier and the No.7 team for JR Motorsports defend their Music City crown with a win in the “Sports Illustrated Resorts 250” at Nashville Superspeedway.

The Illinois native won his third race of the season in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series after a late race battle against the No. 19 of Brent Crews for Joe Gibbs Racing.

“This team right here, they’re incredible,” Allgaier said. “Just so proud of this team.”

Due to qualifying being cancelled for inclement weather, the field had been set by a NASCAR metric with Jesse Love leading the field to green. The Richard Childress Racing driver paced the opening laps of the event, dominating to earn the Stage 1 victory.

Stage 2 would see a continuation of Love leading the pack, with Allgaier following close behind posting faster lap times.  The Chevrolet duo would swap the spot back and forth with The No. 7 of Allgaier ultimately holding the spot to win Stage 2.

The final stage remained relatively clean, with Love getting back out front before losing the lead to Joe Gibbs Racing driver Brent Crews with 70 laps remaining. The 18-year old rookie would remain out front throughout the run before making his green flag pit stop with more than 40 to go.

While Crews’ team, led by crew chief Seth Chavka, were able to cycle back to the front, the veteran experience by Allgaier allowed him to retake the lead with 17 laps to go. Despite coming short, the young driver left with a smile on his face.

“Well man, the positive was is that I thought we were going to win that race,” Crews said, post-race. “That was probably the most fun I have had in a race not winning, that’s a positive from tonight.”

This marks the 32nd NOAPS win for Allgaier in his 520th career start in the series.
