The Racing Product at Texas Motor Speedway Isn’t The Only Thing to Blame (Fall, 2022)

An episode starting with silence, bewilderment, and a slow zoom in says everything you need to know about how the racing at Texas Motor Speedway went.

The Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 was a game of outwit, outplay, and outlast, and Tyler Reddick and his No. 8 Richard Childress Racing team did just that to win the race. Other drivers weren’t so lucky and got caught up in some on-track drama that derailed their days.

Some of this on-track drama was at the hands of NASCAR officiating like when the sanctioning body failed to catch an incident between William Byron and Denny Hamlin the bled into a caution flag where the two drivers could be seen showing their displeasure while the field was under yellow. This, plus disaster to other playoff drivers with tire failures set the tone for the opening race for the ‘Round of 12’.

Let’s chat about all of this in a new episode of Above The Yellow Line, plus the questionable safety of the Gen 7 car that saw another driver injured after a wreck on-track.
