Spire Motorsports announced a one-year extension with sponsor Freeway Insurance on Sunday. The California-based insurance agency has been with Spire driver Daniel Suárez since 2021 when he drove for Trackhouse Racing. Also announced was the return of Ryan Sparks as Suárez’s crew chief for the 2027 season.

In their announcement Freeway confirmed they’ll remain with Spire through at least 2027 and expand their presence within the team. Having only ever sponsored Suárez in the NASCAR Cup Series, Freeway Insurance will now also support Spire driver Carson Hocevar.

Freeway Insurance debuted their NASCAR sponsorship in 2021 with a one-race appearance on Daniel Suárez’s No. 99 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet. In 2022 they upped their support to five races, followed by 12 races in 2023. That grew to 14 races in 2024 and 16 in 2025. The company followed Suárez to Spire Motorsports in 2026 and have appeared on the No. 7 Chevrolet in 19 races so far.

“We’ve been sponsoring Daniel for six years now and what we’ve seen is a strong following,” said Freeway CEO Cesar Soriano continued. “Daniel is the consummate ambassador. I think he really sets the example for the community.”

In addition to their Cup Series sponsorship, Freeway Insurance has supported two Spire entries in the Craftsman Truck Series. The company sponsored Suárez and Nick Sanchez in one start each during the 2026 season. In the ARCA Menards Series, Freeway has appeared multiple times as a sponsor of Spire prospect Tristan McKee.

Freeway will add more Truck Series races to their 2027 commitments with Spire, the company announced. The organization has also named Carson Hocevar a new brand ambassador.

“Freeway Insurance and Daniel have been writing a story together for six years, and we’re honored the latest chapter is being written at Spire,” added Spire Motorsports President Bill Anthony. “Winning the Coca-Cola 600 together made it one worth telling. Freeway’s connection didn’t stop with Daniel. They embraced everyone here and also backed our ARCA, Truck and dirt programs along the way. We don’t take that kind of commitment lightly.”

The Bigger Picture

On the broader scale, Freeway Insurance is a premier partner of NASCAR, the highest available tier of support. Alongside Busch Light, Coca-Cola, and Xfinity, Freeway Insurance sponsors the NASCAR Cup Series through the business model that succeeded the long-running entitlement sponsorship program. Still, the company took Sunday to focus on their relationship with Spire Motorsports.

“Our partnership with Spire Motorsports and Daniel Suárez has been instrumental in connecting Freeway Insurance with NASCAR fans and the communities we serve,” Soriano continued. “We’re excited to build on that success in 2027 by welcoming Carson Hocevar as a brand ambassador and expanding our presence in the NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series. These opportunities allow us to reach new audiences, strengthen relationships, and continue growing the Freeway brand.”

Ryan Sparks Returns

Along with the Freeway Insurance announcement, Spire Motorsports also announced that Ryan Sparks will remain Daniel Suárez’s crew chief for the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season. Sparks has worked with Spire since 2020 when was Corey LaJoie’s crew chief at the No. 7 team. He’s been with that squad ever since, including full seasons with Justin Haley and now Suárez.

Sparks won his first race as a Cup Series crew chief in the 2026 Coca-Cola 600. His pit strategy as rain loomed over Charlotte Motor Speedway allowed Suárez to take the lead in time for a shower that cut the race short. Sparks also led the No. 7 team to its first ever postseason appearance in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series Chase.
