23XI Racing announced on Saturday that Riley Herbst would miss the Coke Zero Sugar 400 that evening due to effects from a crash the prior week. Harrison Burton will drive the No. 35 Toyota Camry XSE in his place.
“After a strong effort in qualifying yesterday, Riley Herbst woke up with lingering effects from last weekend’s incident and, along with the team, decided it was in his best interest to step out of the car for tonight’s race at Daytona International Speedway,” the team said. “He will be replaced in the No. 35 Toyota for tonight’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway by Harrison Burton.”
On Lap 225 of last week’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Herbst was sent hard into the outside wall after contact from Michael McDowell. After Herbst came to a stop, Connor Zilisch impacted him on the passenger side after failing to stop in time to miss the incident.
Riley Herbst qualified fifth for Sunday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400, his second top-five qualifying effort of the 2026 season. The No. 35 will have to drop to the rear of the field as a result of their driver change.
Harrison Burton will make his first NASCAR Cup Series start since the 2024 season finale at Phoenix Raceway. The last time Burton competed at Daytona International Speedway, he scored his first career win in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford.
