RFK Racing has re-signed NASCAR Cup Series driver Chris Buescher to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced on Tuesday. Buescher will remain in the No. 17 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for the foreseeable future, ending speculation that he may be courted by rival teams.
“RFK Racing has been home for most of my racing career, and that’s something I don’t take for granted,” Buescher said. “I’ve grown up with this organization, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together over the last several years. The direction we’re heading, the people we have in place, and the commitment throughout the company make me excited about the future. I’m grateful to Mr. Jack, Brad, Fenway Sports Group and everyone at RFK Racing for their belief in me. I’m looking forward to continuing to chase wins and championships together.”
Nearly Two Decades In-House
Buescher has driven full-time for RFK Racing in the Cup Series since 2020. His career with the organization dates back much further, however; Buescher started as a shop employee 17 years ago and became a development driver in 2009.
In 2011 Buescher made two starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, followed by a seven-race schedule in 2013. He went full-time for what was then Roush Fenway Racing in 2014, and won the series championship in 2015.
In 2016 Buescher began his full-time Cup Series career on loan to Front Row Motorsports, where he won his first race at Pocono Raceway. The following year he began a three-year stint with JTG Daugherty Racing, before being reclaimed by Roush in 2020. Since his return, Buescher has won five additional Cup Series races and finished as high as seventh in the series standings.
2026 And Beyond

Leaving Pocono Raceway, Chris Buescher sits seventh in the NASCAR Cup Series points standings. He has a comfortable 110-point cushion over the Chase cutoff line, and is second only to Ryan Blaney among Ford drivers this season.
