Two days after the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch, his family has released a statement about what led to his death. A statement on Saturday pinpointed the beginning of Busch’s decline to a case of pneumonia.
The Busch family’s statement is as follows:
The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.
The Family asks for continued understanding and privacy during this difficult time.
Brexton, Busch’s 11-year-old son, updated his social media profile picture to a photo of the two embracing following Busch’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win in Altanta this year.

On Thursday morning Kyle Busch’s family announced on social media that he was in the hospital with a ‘severe illness’. No details about Busch’s condition were provided, but it was announced that he would miss the weekend’s races at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Austin Hill is substituting for him in the NASCAR Cup Series, with Corey Day stepping in for the Truck Series.
On Friday multiple news outlets released the audio of a 911 call placed for Busch on Wednesday. The 41-year-old NASCAR Cup Series veteran went to the hospital and at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, NASCAR announced his death.
Since his passing, Busch’s family has received a massive outpouring of prayers and well wishes. Drivers, crew members, and others in the racing industry have shared stories and observations recalling Busch’s impact on the sport as a whole and to the individuals he touched.
