Kyle Busch Victorious in First Dover Truck Race Since 2020

Kyle Busch won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Dover Motor Speedway on Friday, his second Truck win of the 2026 season. The day’s ECOSAVE 200 was the first Truck Series race held at Dover since 2020.

“It feels good to have another Kyle doing it and putting ourselves in Victory Lane,” Busch said, referring to Kyle Larson who shares a first name and sponsor in the Cup Series. “I love coming to Dover, always one of my favorite places to race and definitely some managing of the fuel there, managing of the tires there.”

The final laps of Friday’s race were a delicate balance between speed and fuel savings. Busch’s No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado had just enough to hold onto his lead and secure the win. Ty Majeski finished second, followed by Layne Riggs, Kaden Honeycutt, and Christopher Bell. Though fuel was uncertain at the end, Busch was characteristically dominant with 147 laps led.

“What a great recovery from the last couple weeks,” Majeski said. “We’ve had fast trucks all year, just circumstances have kind of prevented us from getting some finishes that we’ve deserved.”

Historical Perspectives

Busch’s latest Truck win is the series-best 69th in his career. That extends his margin to 18 above second-place Ron Hornaday Jr. on the all-time wins list. The Las Vegas native also won in the Truck Series earlier this year at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta.

Busch’s win keeps the Truck Series to only three victories by full-time drivers through the first nine races of the season. After Chandler Smith and Layne Riggs both won in February, it wasn’t until last weekend at Watkins Glen International that Kaden Honeycutt scored another victory for the Truck Series title contenders. Now, thanks to Busch’s win, the series regulars will have to try again next week.

Elsewhere in the field, one of the race’s most notable entries was Dystany Spurlock driving the No. 69 Ford for MBM Motorsports. Spurlock became the first Black woman ever to race in NASCAR, building from a career in motorcycle drag racing. Unfortunately Spurlock’s day ended on Lap 36 when she lost control of her truck and hit both the inside and outside walls. She was credited with a 36th-place finish.

Kaulig Racing’s Ups and Downs

Kaulig Racing also attracted attention Friday by fielding NASCAR veteran Clint Bowyer in the No. 25 Ram. In his first NASCAR start since 2024, Bowyer spent time in the top 15 before a right-rear tire issue ended his day. The 46-year-old finished 29th.

Despite Bowyer’s woes, Kaulig Racing put two trucks in the top-ten finishers for the second consecutive week. Corey LaJoie placed eighth in the No. 10 Ram, followed by Justin Haley in tenth with the No. 16. Brenden Queen had a solid day of his own, coming home 13th in the No. 12 truck.
