The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series has two familiar faces as the No. 1 qualifiers in Top Fuel and Funny Car after Friday’s two sessions at zMAX Dragway.
TOP FUEL
Defending race winner Shawn Langdon steered his Kalitta Air Careers Top Fuel Dragster to a 3.674 at 339.19mph in Q2 to assert himself as the No. 1 qualifier in the class. Once again, Kalitta Motorsports have flexed their muscle on the Friday night session in 2026.
Leah Pruett, the No. 1 qualifier at the previous event of the season in Pomona, California, sits second with a 3.700 at 333.82mph for Dodge Tony Stewart Racing Nitro. Defending champion Doug Kalitta was not far behind his teammate, Langdon, running a 3.711 at 334.73mph in the MAC Tools Dragster. Josh Hart and Billy Torrence completed the top-five.
Most notably on the lower-end of the order is the most recent winner, Tony Stewart. Sitting 15th with a 3.882 at 277.2mph, the R+L Carriers Elite Motorsports Dragster team will have work to do in Saturday’s Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge.
Langdon and Stewart will face Hart and Torrence in the first Top Fuel quad, with Kalitta and Pruett taking on Justin Ashley and Clay Millican. Bonus purse and points are available for the #2Fast2Tasty contenders.
FUNNY CAR

Ron Capps and the NAPA Ron Capps Motorsports Toyota launched down the 1,000 foot dragstrip in 3.883 seconds at 333.91mph, holding the No. 1 spot after Day 1. The Arizona Nationals winner has started 2026 strong, and is on pace for his second No. 1 qualifier of the season. He’ll look to take that and the #2Fast2Tasty money home in the same day.
Jordan Vandergriff continues his electric start to his Nitro Funny Car career, sitting second with a 3.889 at 328.7mph in the Cornwell Quality Tools John Force Racing Chevrolet. The Pomona winner, Matt Hagan, is third with a 3.901 at 326.16mph for Dodge TSR Nitro. J.R. Todd and Alexis DeJoria complete the top-five. The third JFR Chevy, driven by Jack Beckman, sits in sixth.
Back-to-back defending champion Austin Prock is still struggling to find the sweet spot with his Tasca Racing Ford. Two sessions into the weekend, and the defending race winner has yet to get down the strip at full song. Prock sits 16th with lots more to be desired from the champ.
Hagan, Todd and Beckman will join Dan Wilkerson in the first #2Fast2Tasty quad. Capps, DeJoria, Vandergriff and Chad Green will face off in the second grouping.
